Cool and elegance in the bootle: wine of the week!

Chão da Quinta - Red Wine
Chão da Quinta - Red Wine

Our wine of the week is from Chão de São Francisco. The Quinta de S. Francisco goes back to the XVIII century, it used to be the main house of the Viscount of Treixedo in Lourosa de Cima, with majestic gardens, whose beauty was developed in baroque style, in a city known as "the most baroque of Portugal".

This Chão da Quinta is a wine from the region of Viseu, which is a region full of gastronomy delicacies and rich in folklore and cultural experience, is kind of perfect to be a wine's birth place!

It's a wine that presents himself with elegance and coolness,  with shiny and brilliant ruby color that has a hint of purple. The scent of this wine it has a tone of ripe red fruits, plumps and blackberries, together with a light touch of rare spices such as black pepper, cocoa and vanilla. As you taste it it reveals a nice structure and volume. You are going to drink this wine but, as the years go by, if by accident you kept it in the bottle you will be surprised by how well it has evolved.

Verde: the wine with "Street" value

We don't need no Will Lions (Wall Street Journal) to know that we are going to talk about a very special kind of wine: Vinho Verde. This particular wine, shown above, is from Casa dos Oleiros that it's located right in the middle of the region that produces the so called "Vinho Verde". Casa de Oleiros white wine is a fresh , young thing! Full of a fruity flavor, it leaves you with a long and soft aftertaste.

To get the best out of this wine, we need to serve it at a cool temperature to accompany a salad, seafood or a great grilled fish! Humm! We are so salivating over here!

The summer is ending, yeah, you have to face it!
Although, there are awesome sunsets to be seen and enjoyed with the best company and a bottle of  Casa de Oleiros white wine!

Oh! the wine is calling us...

It's been far too long, wine lovers!
Hope you had a great holiday, we are back and have some news for you!
Stay tuned!

There's something about Portuguese wines...

Promoting!

Promoting!

Seems to be the latest obsession when it comes to Portuguese wines!
The latest market to be target is the USA, Portuguese producers and trading companies seem to be focusing on the Yankee market due to  the lack of knowledge of Portugal and its rich wine country.

Over the next months, Portuguese wines are going to be the represented in two major wine events: the  SF chefs and the Outside Lands Music Festival which is one of the greatest music festival of the country, that shows the scale of Portuguese wines's investment.

The wine market in the USA is overflowing, the supply is bigger than the demand but Portuguese Wine Producers want to change the game and bring to light the origin of most of our wines, which the american have been already consuming but don't really know that they are Portuguese.
